How To Make A Whiskey Sour Egg White

The delicious and frothy whiskey sour with egg white cocktail dates back to 1862 when it was first printed in the "Jerry Thomas Bartender Guide". This wonderful cocktail features bourbon, egg white, lemon juice & simple syrup. In my version of this cocktail, I swapped out bourbon with rye. It makes the palate a bit drier which is truly enjoyable.
Recipe/Ingredients:
2oz Rye Whiskey
.75oz Lemon Juice
.5 oz Simple Syrup
1 Egg White
Optional: Top With Angostura Bitters
How to prepare:
Add the whiskey, lemon juice, & simple syrup to a cocktail tin. Crack an egg and separate the whites from the yolk, add the white to the cocktail tin. Without adding ice, shake all ingredients in the cocktail tin. Shake for 1 minute, this will help emulsify the egg white and make it frothy.
Add ice to the tin and shake vigorously for around 7-11 seconds. Strain into a prepared cocktail glass and enjoy!
